Artistic Director ~ David Rose

David Rose is a music director, pianist, master teacher, and career banker, located in Shrewsbury Massachusetts. He was born in Western Pennsylvania and has lived in Ohio and Massachusetts.
David started playing piano with his mother at age three, and began formal piano instruction at the age of five. At age 9, David began piano lessons with college professor Margaret Rae Shreyer, a student of the renowned English Piano Pedagogue, Tobias Matthay. David continued his studies through summer programs at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of Arts, and the Eastman School of Music. His senior year of high school classes were completed on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, Ohio. He was accepted into a special program at The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) which allowed gifted high school students to combine their high school senior year with freshman college level music instruction. While at CIM, David studied with the late Jack Radunsky, and received his Bachelor of Music Degree in 1981. At CIM, David served as the accompanist for the Conservatory’s opera program for two years, working with Anthony Addison.
David continued his studies at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied with Concert Pianist Veronica Jochum and earned his master’s degree in 1983.
Since his graduation from NEC, he has taught, played, conducted, music directed and been a part of the music team for countless shows, including community theater groups such as Arlington Friends of The Drama (AFD), Medway Players, NETWorks, Acme Players, Concord Players, Westborough Players and many more. He has won awards and received high praise for his musical direction and conducting, such as the musical “West Side Story” at AFD. David enjoyed performing on Synthesizer at the Boston Premier of “Adding Machine” at the SpeakEasy Stage Company. David met the composer of “Adding Machine”, Joshua Schmidt who praised David’s work. David served as music director at Park Congregational church from 2008 to 2014, where he learned to play a tracker organ. David played the piano and directed the church choir.
For 24 years David served as the accompanist for the Northborough Area Community Chorus (NACC), with founder and Music Director, Anthony J. Volpe, producing two concerts per year, from 1994 to 2018, when they both retired. David has performed numerous piano solos during his concerts with NACC, such as Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. He has also guest appeared for NACC with current accompanist Mark Bartlett to perform several four handed musical selections.
David rejoined NACC in January 2022, as the new Artistic Director for the chorus in time for its 50th Anniversary, serving alongside Mark Bartlett, accompanist. Sadly, Tony Volpe passed away in 2020, and is greatly missed. David looks forward to honoring his NACC legacy by serving in this capacity.
Among some of the fun things he has done, David joined his good friend John Lajoie, and former chorus member, Scott Mitchell, in the early 2000’s to form a Garage Band called Generation Gap. The children and friends of band members joined the group, as they performed many songs from the 70’s, 80’s classic pop music.
David is a Master Teacher of piano at his Shrewsbury studio, where he proudly has many young and adult students.
David lives in Shrewsbury with his wife, Cindi. He has three children, Josep, James, and Justin, and a stepdaughter, Jaime. He also has two Golden Doodles that he enjoys in his spare time.
David is a career Banker. He works for Berkshire Bank, where he is an Assistant Vice President.
